                     RECIPE  ANT'S NEST CAKE

Ingredients:

A. For the Cookie Dough:

- 200 grams all-purpose flour

- 50 grams powdered sugar

- 100 grams butter (use salted butter for a richer flavor)

- 1 egg yolk

- A pinch of salt

- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

B. For the Coating:

- 1 egg white

- 100 grams sesame seeds (to taste)

- 50 grams chopped almonds (optional)

**Instructions:**

1. Prepare the Ingredients:

   - Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit).

   - Prepare a baking sheet or a flat tray, either by greasing it with butter or lining it with parchment paper.

2. Make the Cookie Dough:

   - In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour and powdered sugar. Add the butter and egg yolk. You can also add a little vanilla extract and a pinch of salt if you like.

   - Mix all the ingredients until it forms a smooth dough. If the dough is too dry, you can add a little melted butter or cold water.

   - Roll out the dough thinly (about 3 mm thick) using a rolling pin on a floured surface to prevent sticking.

3. Form the Ant's Nests:

   - Cut the dough into small squares or triangles. Then, fold one side towards the center and fold the other side over the top to form a small triangle.

   - Place the triangular pieces of dough on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat this process until all the dough is used up.

4. Coating and Baking:

   - Beat the egg white until it's frothy. Brush the top of each "ant's nest" with the egg white.

   - Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of each "ant's nest." If you like, you can also add chopped almonds as decoration.

   - Bake in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the "Kue Sarang Semut" turns golden brown.

5. Finishing:

   - Once done, remove the "Kue Sarang Semut" from the oven and let them cool briefly on the baking sheet.

   - After they have cooled completely, your "Kue Sarang Semut" is ready to be served.

Enjoy making and indulging in these crispy and sweet "Kue Sarang Semut"! Be sure to store them in an airtight container to keep them crisp.
