Here's the recipe for Seblak, a popular Indonesian dish known for its spiciness. You can adjust the ingredients and level of spiciness to your liking.
Ingredients:
1. Main Ingredients:
- 200 grams of Seblak crackers (usually available in Indonesian grocery stores)
- 100 grams of macaroni or curly noodles, cooked and drained
- 100 grams of white tofu, diced
- 100 grams of green beans, chopped
- 100 grams of cabbage, thinly sliced
- 2 stalks of scallions, finely chopped
2. Spices:
- 5 red curly chili peppers, thinly sliced (adjust to your desired level of spiciness)
- 3 red bird's eye chili peppers, thinly sliced (adjust to your desired level of spiciness)
- 4 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
- 2 lime leaves
- 2 cm galangal, crushed
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for sautéing
- 1000 ml of water
Instructions:
1. Heat vegetable oil in a large frying pan or pot.
2. Sauté garlic, red chili peppers, bird's eye chili peppers, lime leaves, and galangal until fragrant.
3. Add tofu, green beans, and cabbage. Sauté briefly until the vegetables start to wilt.
4. Pour water into the pot and bring it to a boil. Then, add the Seblak crackers. Stir well and let the crackers soften.
5. Once the crackers are soft, add the cooked noodles and scallions. Mix well.
6. Add salt and sugar, then taste and adjust the seasoning to your preference. You can also add seasoning like chicken or beef broth powder to enhance the flavor.
7. Cook until all the ingredients are well-cooked, and the flavors have absorbed into the crackers and noodles.
8. Serve Seblak hot as a delicious and spicy dish!
